Trust matters. To help you understand who I am and how I can help you, let me tell you a few words about my professional life.

Legal education and international experience

My academic education was in Würzburg and Newcastle upon Tyne. I completed my practical training in two law firms in Münster and Montreal, as well as in the German Embassy in New Delhi, and the European Commission in Brussels. During this time I laid the foundation for a Europe-wide network of lawyers in companies, associations and authorities that has been growing steadily since then.

Professional background

Since called to the bar in 2015, I have been working in the field of environmental law in Berlin, starting this law firm in 2018.

From 2015-2016 I worked as a lawyer in the public commercial law practice group of the international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. As part of a particularly demanding and extensive mandate, I accompanied the sale of Vattenfall’s lignite division there. Other main areas of activity were immission and soil protection, water and mining law and administrative procedural law issues as well as European emissions trading.

In 2017-2018 I continued my environmental law work at Andrea Versteyl Rechtsanwälte mbB, preparing building and immission control approval procedures for medium-sized companies and representing them in court. In addition, I advised clients on soil protection, water management and waste law issues.

Since 2023 I have been advising a manufacturer of electrolysers (machines that produce green hydrogen) as an in-house lawyer. In addition to general company-related issues, I work on contract along the entire, world-spanning value chain.

Teaching

As a guest lecturer for the international MBL programme on European and International Energy Law at Technische Universität in Berlin, I am teaching international students on emissions trading systems and hydrogen regulation. Previous teaching assignments at the Berlin School of Economics and Law include graduate-level courses in environmental criminal law and post-graduate courses in planning and environmental law at the Berlin University of Technology.

Other interests

In legal journals I regularly publish articles on current developments in legislation and case law as well as on important new developments in legislation and case law, using blogs and professional presentations to take an expert position in ongoing environmental and energy policy debates.

While closely following current developments in other industries, I also engage with issues involving legal tech, (corporate) data protection, trademark rights and related areas of civil law. I am the managing director of Paris Projects GmbH, which is dedicated to the planning of environmental projects, as well as a member of an environmental association and a responsible private pilot.
